South Africa Project

Following a recent and moving trip to South Africa, Adrian and Suzanne have taken on a new project. This project aims to raise funds and resources for an under privileged school in the Mpumalanga region of South Africa.

During their visit Adrian and Suzanne were treated to a tour of the school by the friendly and accommodating principle, Mr Shongwe. The school is badly under resourced with only 2 plastic tables in each class, few chairs and little storage. There is only one chalkboard in the entire school and no educational aids.

Probably the most pressing issue is the canteen facilities. There is no kitchen, just a few large pots heated over open fires. This is very impractical, difficult to work with and presents a safety hazard. These meager facilities are expected to feed over 500 children daily.

In conjunction with some local business people and in conjunction with AST Clinic Adrian and Suzanne have undertaken to raise much needed funds and resources for the school. They are looking for support from individuals, businesses or anyone willing to lend a hand. Support can come in financial, resources or time to help with the organisation. A new website with further details is on the way but in the meantime you can use the AST contact page to get in touch.

Visting Seville

Some of our team, along with our neighbours at Philip Gray Gallery, enjoyed a trip of a lifetime to Seville, Spain, organised by our dear friend Jose and his family, from the 2nd to the 9th of October. We received guided tours of Seville Cathedral, the Royal Palace and Seville Football Club FC, to name a few, as well enjoying some delicious tapas along the way! Words cannot describe the wonderful hospitality we experienced in Spain by Jose and his family as well as our other dear friends, Pintinho and family. The trip finished with the opening of a very impressive Philip Gray exhibition. Well done Philip and sincerest thanks to all our Spanish friends!

Congratulation to Aine

Our youngest Speech and Language Therapist, Aine, has been accepted by the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists in Britain to display her recent research findings at their national conference in London next March. We don't hope, because we know, that her project will be the best at the conference!
